Spirit of Hope Detroit - Sunshine Community Preschool

Sunshine changes lives for the better every day. We empower young people and families through quality education and a caring, well-trained staff. Children love to be a part of the school, and many actually fuss when parents come at the end of the day to take them home! Sunshine is fully licensed by the State of Michigan, housed and administered by Spirit of Hope, and provides quality education to the youngest of school-aged students. Serving the community for over twenty years, we charge very reasonable tuition, accept FIA and other childcare payments, and strive to serve every family regardless of income level.

That education involves the whole person, spiritually, emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically.

That a prepared learning environment, which provides independence and responsibility, positively affects learning.

Our curriculum revolves around:

Practical Life
Sensory Motor Skills
Math
Language
Geography
Music, Movement and Art

Tools for curriculum include everything from crayons and pencils to computers and other hands-on learning tools.

Parents are encouraged to:

Attend orientation sessions
Attend parent-teacher conferences
Observe their child in class from the Observation Room

Partnership Efforts:

Sunshine works closely with the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan and churches around the area. Tuition payments do not cover all of our operating expenses. Therefore in order to keep costs low and affordable to all families, we are always seeking creative fundraising and grant opportunities to enhance the resources and mission of the school.
